@Hypolite Petovan I would almost assume this problem appeared during the last 1 or 2 days... I almost update daily. (the dev version) and today in the morning my full name greeted me when I was checking the new posts on friendica. But I did not change my name. As if it was saved somewhere (full name) and the latest update changed something, so that the full name became dominant over the display name.

@xy@libranet.de Yes. The problem is that we’ve been storing the display name in two places: the user table and the profile table. This is because we used to offer multiple profiles for the same user account. However, this was a Friendica-specific feature so it was eventually scrapped to favor interoperability with other platforms.

Now there’s only one profile record for each user, but the display name is still duplicated in both places. In particular, the Basic Settings Full Name form was updating the user record but then updated the self contact record with the profile record which didn’t change.

I assume that’s why the Profile Display Name form doesn’t work anymore, I’ve changed it so that the user data is used to update the self contact data for this field.

We now need to decide whether we keep the authoritative display name in the user or profile table. Either is fine, we just need to choose so that both forms can finally work at the same time.
