What they mean, of course, is that some technomagical hyperintelligence will find a solution where everyone can keep doing whatever they do, the rich and powerful can keep their power and wealth, and nothing really changes at all.

I want to see the looks know their faces when the AI they created does become sentient and tells them the problem is billionaires and religion...

Worse than that, many of the solutions to climate breakdown would actually have improved the lives of ordinary people: better insulated homes lowering fuel bills, more efficient cars, better public transport, more green spaces in cities, less air pollution, reusable containers instead of single-use plastics, etc. etc. All things that could have been done in the mid-twentieth century.

And all ‘AI’ is going to do is repeat the solutions that are statistically most likely, which are going to be those same solutions we already know about but refuse to implement.
