Une mise à jour Mastodon (v4.3.x) a été publiée il y a peu et elle contient un grand nombre de nouvelles fonctionnalités. Voici les principales, côté utilisateurs et bloggers, maintenant que j’ai pu avoir accès et tester sur l’une de mes instances.
– Il est possible de cliquer sur « ALT » pour afficher la description d’une image. – Les notifications sont maintenant « groupées », y compris les nouveaux abonnés si vous le souhaitez. Il est aussi possible de filtrer certaines interactions vers une boîte de réception spécifique, ou de les ignorer totalement. Multiples options pour gérer les notificationsGestion des abonnements – Les images jointes à une publication peuvent être réorganisées, après avoir été ajoutées et avant de poster. Il suffit de cliquer sur une image et de la déplacer à la souris vers la position désirée (drag-and-drop). – Les options pour choisir la langue ainsi que la visibilité d’un billet ont été améliorées. Deux dénominations ont été changées : Public discret (anciennement « non listé ») pour les billets qui ne sont pas indexés dynamiquement dans le flux, mais restent visibles à tous, option en général utilisée pour les réponses ou les messages complémentaires dans un thread, et Personnes spécifiques (à la place de « personnes mentionnées uniquement ») pour les messages directs (qui, je le rappelle, ne sont toujours pas cryptés). – Les options pour la création de sondages sont plus claires : – Un thème « Système » a été ajouté, basé sur les paramètres de votre ordinateur ou téléphone : – Enfin, mais je n’en ai pas encore été témoin, votre instance vous prévient si la défédération d’un serveur impacte les personnes que vous suivez, et que vous perdez donc la connexion avec ces abonnements.
Il y a beaucoup d’autres évolutions ou modifications dans cette mise à jour Mastodon 4.3, comme la possibilité de consulter un aperçu de profil (hover card) en survolant le nom d’un utilisateur avec la souris (et de désactiver cette fonction dans les préférences d’apparence, si désiré). Pour les utilisateurs – annonces de la sortie de Mastodon 4.3
Une des évolutions majeures de la version 4.3.x, en particulier pour les créateurs de contenu comme les journalistes ou bloggers (avec infolettre par exemple), est la possiblité de mieux attribuer les posts, par un indicateur pointant vers le compte, pour soit générer plus de visibilité, soit permettre aux gens de s’abonner à des publications intéressantes.
Pour activer cette option sur votre profil Mastodon :
étape 1 primordiale – modifiez le thème ou template de votre site, en ajoutant dans l’entête HTML (entre les tags <HEAD> et </HEAD>) la ligne suivante : <meta name="fediverse:creator" content="[votre adresse mastodon]" /> En cas de doute, le code nécessaire pour ce faire vous est présenté dans vos paramètres de profil (cf. étape 2). Par exemple, pour mon blog African Music Forum qui a désormais son propre compte Mastodon, j’ai ajouté :
étape 2 – sur votre instance, modifiez les paramètres de votre profil, dans l’onglet Profil / Vérification.
Il convient en particulier de définir le(s) site(s) qui peuvent vous créditer. Il suffit d’entrer chaque nom de domaine concerné, un par ligne. Pour reprendre l’exemple de mon blog AMF, je n’ai ajouté qu’une entrée : Après avoir sauvé, et une fois que l’interconnexion sera faite entre votre instance et votre site (peut prendre quelques minutes), vous verrez le « miracle » s’opérer.
Remarque importante : l’attribution apparait sur l’affichage d’une URL partagée. Si le post contient une image attachée, la ligne « Plus via » (« More from » en anglais) ne sera pas présente. Pour améliorer le rendu de vos liens (link preview), il convient de vous assurer qu’une fois le partage effectué, la plateforme va aller chercher les éléments nécessaires pour l’afficher correctement : image, titre… Pour ce faire, par exemple, Mastodon se base au minimum sur les métadonnées « OpenGraph » (OG), mais principalement celles déclarées pour l’option « Twitter Card ». <meta property="og:site_name" content=" ___ "/><meta property="og:title" content=" ___ "/><meta property="og:url" content=" ___ "/><meta property="og:type" content="article"/><meta property="og:description" content=" ___ "/><meta property="og:image" content=" ___ "/><meta name="twitter:title" content=" ___ "/><meta name="twitter:url" content=" ___ "/><meta name="twitter:description" content=" ___ "/><meta name="twitter:image" content=" ___ "/><meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image"/>
Il convient bien sûr de noter que seuls les utilisateurs dont l’instance à été mise à jour peuvent voir et interagir avec cette nouvelle fonctionnalité.
Cacher les images sensibles
Dans les versions qui précédent la mise à jour Mastodon 4.3, pour cacher une image ou un média dit « sensible », on pouvait simplement cocher une case : Cette case n’existe plus désormais. Comment faire ? C’est simple, mais comme on dit « il faut le savoir »…
Il suffit en fait d’activer l’avertissement de contenu, ⚠️ situé en bas de la boîte de publication, et de laisser le champ « Avertissement de contenu (optionnel) » vide ! Toutes les images attachées au post seront donc floutées, sans pour autant cacher la publication derrière un avertissement. Bien entendu, les avertissements de contenu continuent à fonctionner normalement, et les images jointes sont toujours masquées.
Recherche de marque-pages
Avez-vous déjà tenté une recherche dans vos marque-pages (bookmarks) ? Il semblerait qu’en utilisant l’option « in:library » (sans guillemets) dans les options de recherche en plus du terme désiré, cela fonctionne. Mais, ils sont noyés dans une multitude de résultats, générée par tous les posts avec lesquels vous avez intéragi, en publiant un commentaire, en partageant ou simplement en ajoutant un like.
Je n’ai pas encore testé dans la nouvelle version, mais l’ajout d’une option « public » laisse à penser qu’il a pu y avoir des évolutions de ce côté…
Mise à jour Mastodon 4.3
Pour conclure, pas mal de choses intéressantes, dans cette dernière version, même s’il reste encore du chemin pour répondre aux attentes de nombreux utilisateurs. D’autant que l’arrivée en force de Bluesky qui apporte un certain nombre d’idées intéressantes dans le domaine des réseaux sociaux, vient rebattre un peu les cartes… A suivre…
Bonus : Pour tous ceux qui ont un site ou blog avec des analyses de visites et visiteurs, il semblerait que la prochaine version permette (enfin !) que l’origine (le « referrer ») d’un lien cliqué sur une instance Mastodon puisse apparaître dans les statistiques, si l’administrateur du serveur l’autorise. C’est de l’attribution, mais dans l’autre sens…
