In January 2025, Harvard University adopted a new definition of antisemitism. (insidehighered.com/news/divers…)
It defines antisemitism as, among other things, "drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis."
The definition is known as @theihra definition of antisemitism (holocaustremembrance.com/resou…).
Thus, Harvard would have defined Albert Einstein as an antisemite, who, in 1948, described the Israeli political party Herut as a “political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy & social appeal to Nazi and fascist parties.” (arabnews.com/node/1289796)
Harvard would have also defined David Ben Gurion, Israel's first Prime Minister, an antisemite, who "regularly" liked Menachem Begin to Hitler (jstor.org/stable/30245767)
Harvard University has adopted a cartoonish definition of antisemitism. Harvard is intellectually bankrupt. It exists to promote and debate and discussion over what is and is not antisemitism, not restrict the conversion around it. What a toxic wealth management firm. sorry, university.
IHRA antisemitism definition adopted at Harvard, prompts backlash
The definition has been at the center of debates over campus antisemitism for years. Now, Harvard has become the second university to officially add it into its nondiscrimination policy—to mixed reactions.Johanna Alonso (Inside Higher Ed | Higher Education News, Events and Jobs)
